1970's
Henk van Dalen's dream

Before Dutch Passion were formally established, cannabis seeds were collected from many strain hunting trips or from the shipments of weed that arrived in 1970’s Amsterdam from all over the world. Many of these genetics are in deep-freeze where they are still used for research and new strain development.

1987
Officially established in Amsterdam

As home growing became more established demand for cannabis seeds grew. Dutch Passion were formally established as one of the very first Dutch seed banks. At this stage only regular cannabis seeds were available.

1990’s
Feminised cannabis seeds invention

Dutch Passion founder Henk van Dalen stunned the early cannabis community with the first feminised cannabis seeds. Initially only available in small quantities, demand from feminised seeds skyrocketed and Dutch Passion became a household name in the cannabis community.

2000’s
Premium autoflower seeds pioneers

Dutch Passion partnered with the Joint Doctor (the original autoflower seed pioneer) to launch the first mainstream autoflower seeds. Early performance of the first generation autoflower seeds offered medium yields and medium quality. But within a few years quality levels were on the same level as feminised seeds.

Today, autoflower seeds account for nearly half of all cannabis seed sales and are just as popular as feminised seeds. Their fast life cycle, ease-of-growth, potent buds and branch-bending yields means that autos are popular with both indoor and outdoor cannabis growers.

2000’s
First stable CBD-rich cannabis seeds

2020
 First THCV/CBG strains in the world
