Auto GrapefruitZ is a beautiful addition to our Orange family of cannabis seeds. Besides her fruity citrus-dominant terpene profile she usually also develops beautiful orange pistils that are characteristic of the strains in the Dutch Passion Orange family. The genetics were created by crossing our photoperiod Passion Fruit with Auto Melonade Runtz. These genetic lines provide a wide genetic background for this hybrid autoflower.

Our Passion Fruit (Sweet Pink Grapefruit x Orange Bud) contributes the very fruity character, while Auto Melonade Runtz ((Auto Pink Runtz x Melonade (Lemon Z x Lemon Tree)) brings the high potency and clearly present trichome development.

Together they create a fine hybrid autoflower that leans slightly more towards the Sativa side of the genetics. Her plant and bud structure is also that of a Sativa-dominant hybrid — medium to large, nice full buds, relatively compact but not super fluffy, and usually with beautiful orange pistils. Auto GrapefruitZ normally produces larger medium autoflower plants with a very high yield. The buds lean more towards Sativa-looking flowers in appearance, with foxtails and a slightly more open structure in some phenotypes. However, this certainly does not apply to all phenotypes.

Some are considerably more compact and look more like a 50/50 hybrid (50 % Sativa, 50 % Indica). This autoflower cultivar is characterised by unique fruity terpenes; combined with the large XL harvest, these are the reasons you really should grow this strain!

She is relatively fast from seed to harvest. Although we indicate that she needs approximately 12 weeks from autoflower seed to fully mature plant, faster plants can certainly be found that finish closer to 11 weeks. And some even around 10.5 weeks.

All plants display the well-known ‘hybrid vigour’, meaning they grow and flower quickly. Thick, strong branches are also a hallmark of this strain. This ensures the large blooms are well supported when fully grown. Her fine growth pattern also makes her suitable for manipulation or training using various techniques such as LST or HST (topping, FIMming, etc.).

Although there are certainly differences to be found in growth pattern and flowering time, the terpene profiles stay reasonably close to each other — the fruity character is usually dominant. You will also notice that during the final weeks of flowering the plants bulk up considerably and the buds appear to get a bit thicker every few days!

Most plants develop light-green/white buds, but on the leaves, you will find beautiful colourations that usually turn pink, reddish or very light purple. A small percentage of plants can also develop pink/purple tones in the buds, which contributes to the unique appearance and attractive bag appeal.

Trichome production is genuinely excellent and some flowers are completely snowed under! For an autoflower of this size it is certainly impressive. The THC level falls into the ‘Very High’ category and normally ranges between 15–20 %. However, outliers are definitely possible, especially when grown under the right conditions and with great care.

Auto GrapefruitZ produces beautiful full open buds with a solid sticky resin layer. The connected flowers sometimes look as if they have been completely snowed under.

In terms of potency, she falls into the ‘Very High’ THC category, and if grown well this can even reach ‘Extremely High’, resulting in a powerful yet pleasant effect! The effect is more of a hybrid high, with both mental and physical effects.

Flowering time of Auto GrapefruitZ

Auto GrapefruitZ has an average seed-to-harvest time of approximately 12 weeks. However, due to the phenotype differences present, faster plants can also be found that finish around 10.5–11 weeks.

These are usually the slightly more compact/smaller plants. They stretch a little less, which means they start flowering and finish earlier. These more compact plants often still develop thick blooms. Therefore, allow for an autoflower seed-to-harvest time of between 75–85 days.

Thanks to her hybrid and more open bud structure she is also suitable for outdoor growing and greenhouse cultivation. In an outdoor/greenhouse grow the total cycle can be delayed by 1 to 2 weeks due to periods with little sun or poorer/colder weather. Because of the fuller and more open structure of the buds, this strain handles warm and more humid conditions quite well. In warm and dry areas this autoflower performs truly fantastically — both on a balcony and in the ground. Even in temperate climates she does fine, although it is recommended to choose the most favourable and sunniest summer months for the best results.

Yield of Auto GrapefruitZ

Auto GrapefruitZ is a hybrid autoflower with good bag appeal. All buds have a substantial layer of trichomes and are quite sticky & smelly! Smelly in the good sense of course (‘stinking’ meaning a penetrating and intense aroma), smelling of sour citrus fruit and a tropical fruit cocktail!

The buds become large and after drying have attractive bag appeal. Auto GrapefruitZ produces an XL yield in combination with an average seed-to-harvest time. Indoors this will average between 500–550 g/m². She can be grown on 18/6 as well as 20/4 or even 24/0 light cycles. If you are an expert grower you can achieve between 600–700 g/m².

Outdoors most plants will yield between 30–75 g of dry buds per plant. Of course, the same rule applies here: the more hours of (sun)light and the better the climate, the higher the yield you can obtain. Experienced growers in a favourable climate can get around 100–150 g per plant.

If you grow in a hydro system and apply certain training techniques, you can achieve even higher yields both indoors and outdoors. However, this is mainly reserved for cultivation experts.
