Dutch Passion enjoy visiting Expo Cannabis in Uruguay

Dutch Passion enjoyed a fun week at Expo Cannabis in Uruguay recently. Uruguay was the first country in the world to legalise cannabis back in 2013 and has a thriving cannabis scene. Lots of people enjoy growing their own recreational/medical cannabis from autoflower seeds or feminised seeds  Cannabis is freely available throughout Uruguay, the cannabis industry produces plenty of jobs with pensions and good working conditions. Cannabis is available through pharmacies for medical users. The various cannabis industries and jobs raise much needed taxes for the Government, the whole model works very well. Contrast that with so many western Governments who spend $Billions on policing/judicial costs just to maintain the lost fight of prohibition. One of the reasons to legalize cannabis in Uruguay was to undermine black market gangs and reduce drug-related violence. Uruguay’s 'marijuana experiment’ succeeded in reducing Uruguayan violent crime to some of the lowest in South America. Other countries, such as Mexico, are hoping to follow Uruguays example and remove cannabis from the hands of black marketeers and violent drug gangs.

Dutch Passion cannabis seeds donated to Uruguay cannabis social clubs

Just like Europe, Uruguay has cannabis social clubs which exist for the benefit of the members. These clubs do a great job of producing cannabis for their members at a low cost. Dutch Passion were pleased to meet with members from several clubs who now have some Dutch Passion cannabis seeds for the next harvests. The grow clubs are very popular and are allowed to grow up to 99 plants for their members. Home growers are allowed several crops per year and are supposed to restrict their stash to below 480g.
In general the show was very busy. Expo Cannabis attracted plenty of international and local suppliers to the cannabis industry. There were plenty of home growers present, stocking up on their autoflower seeds and feminised seeds. There were also some serious commercial licensed growers present, South America is attracting overseas investment for cannabis growing and some large licensed growers are starting to flourish. There were lots of Brazilian visitors present. Frisian Duck is a particularly popular variety with many of the ‘back yard’ growers who want a variety with stealth leaves which blends in with the rest of the tropical vegetation.

Expo Cannabis cannabis seeds and more

The outdoor area at Expo Cannabis was relaxing and a great place to enjoy the outdoor concerts and food stalls. The entire expo had a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere. Plenty of people enjoyed cannabis in the outdoor area, especially later in the day. Visitors had the chance to speak to everyone from nutrient vendors, lighting specialists, grow tent sellers and cannabis seed vendors. It was a great chance for Dutch Passion to meet up with customers, get feedback and listen to what they want in the future. Dutch Passion should be back at Expo Cannabis Uruguay next year!
