C-Vibez cannabis strain phenotypes hunting

C-Vibez is one of the few Dutch Passion cannabis strains that can regularly hit/exceed 25% THC and is a best-selling feminised seed choice for that reason. She is a hybrid strain which, unusually, has been left deliberately un-stabilised. This allows the serious grower (or breeder) the chance to hunt from a wider-than-normal selection of phenotypes, all of which are high quality.

These C-Vibez phenotypes range in flavour/aroma and include fruity, floral, cheesy & hazey notes. Other C-Vibez phenotypes can lean more towards piney, spicy and slightly acidic - but all benefit from exceptional THC levels up to/around 25% with good yields.

In this grow, a multi-cannabis cup winning team of professionals (The Urban Growers Collective) grew 10 seeds in pro-conditions with LED grow lights, well controlled humidity, BAC nutrients & slow-release organic BioTab nutrients in 25 litre containers of a 4:1 coco:light-mix grow medium.

Using their experience, the Urban Growers Collective selected the best 4 phenotypes from a pack of 10 photoperiod feminised cannabis seeds. The selection of the top-4 phenotypes was based on yield, potency, aroma and effect.

As professional growers, the Urban Growers Collective usually get independent lab analysis for cannabinoid and terpene content. They look only for the best genetics that deliver quality with good yields, great taste, sublime aroma and exquisitely powerful/enjoyable effects.

The Urban Growers Collective grew 10 feminised cannabis seeds and kept what they felt were the best 4 C-Vibez plants. With limited space in their grow/mother rooms, the Urban Growers Collective are forced to be brutal and ruthless in their selections and keep only those phenotypes which they decide are essential keepers and add something completely unique to their private genetics collection. Any phenotypes which win cannabis cups (UGC enter and win many) tend to be automatically admitted to their collection of prized phenotypes.

Here are the pictures and descriptions of the 4 initial keeper-phenotypes. These buds were reviewed by the team of the Dutch Flowers Magazine (‘DFM’) who gave their expert opinion about the 4 selected cultivars, which according to them, all had something unique to offer.

Besides writing magazines, the DFM team hold a regular Cannabis Cup contest in the south of the Netherlands as well. Here are their words and experience of Dutch Passion’s classic C-Vibez.

C-Vibez Phenotype 1

C-Vibez cannabis strain Phenotype 1

Slightly darker green buds, brown hairs with a silver reflective thick trichome coating and a fresh, fruity cheesy vibe. If you need to relax in a hurry this phenotype never disappoints.

The first phenotype smells like cheese with hints of fresh flowers and fruit, it’s a pleasant scent. The great looking dank buds are frosty with a clear lime green colour and thin brown hairs which makes her look really attractive. The flavour is best described as fruity and fresh on the inhale turning into a strong cheesy taste on the exhale. This phenotype is a true hybrid, lifting you up for a short while and bringing you into a deeply chilled state. The high ends in a strong relaxing feeling that's perfect for an afternoon smoke.

C-Vibez Phenotype 2

Lighter green buds with orange hairs, giving the nugs an inviting warm orange hue. Appealing Haze notes mix with some chewy cheesy undertones and a fantastic stress-busting effect.

This phenotype is a lovely example of a strong cheese strain and has a sedative effect that helps you slow right down. The orange hues of this one lure you to the jar to smell what's inside. She tastes like a bag of Cheetos but with a slight haze note on the exhale. We smoked this strain during a sunny afternoon and remained seated on the same couch for several hours, high and euphoric!

The relaxed mental state was enjoyable and we woke up the following morning fully charged. This phenotype is highly recommended for days off. You can really relax in fine style with a truly enjoyable high and get absolutely stoned. Yet the next day you feel as fresh as a daisy. Genuine top-drawer stash by any standards.

C-Vibez Phenotype 3

With calyx’s stacked like a Haze and a particularly resinous feel, C-Vibez phenotype 3 delivers a creeping high of brutal strength.

From the outside, this phenotype looks less dense than her sisters, but she packs a serious punch. There were purple colours on her lower bottom buds - that is really inviting. Her colour appearance in general is most similar to phenotype 1.

The cheese flavour is still there but the fruitiness and floral notes are now much more evident. In combination with her smooth smoke, this one was a creeper with a super productive high. Her energising effects will leave you with a huge smile on your face.

C-Vibez Phenotype 4

Strong, round dense buds with a light green silver sheen. Fruity flavours abound with mouthwatering cheesy notes. Exceptionally powerful and tasty yet still allows you to get on with stuff.

The final phenotype has a strong and dense bud structure with an incredibly dense coating of trichomes. It gave off a fruity and sweet aroma with hints of orange and lime green, with a fruity and cheesy taste. It lifted us up at first, followed by couchlock and munchies.

For us, this one is most suitable during weekdays around 3 PM, when you still have some stuff to do but you can also prepare yourself to close the day. The combination of the cheesy taste with the deliciously sweet taste on the inhale and a refreshing haze taste on exhale makes this C-Vibez phenotype a great new-school strain.

Most cannabis seed companies do their best to stabilise a cannabis strain, using techniques such as back-crossing. But C-Vibez was made from a cross of an elite Mad Scientist (Indica blend) and an exceptional Voodoo (Thai) and purposefully left with an array of potent phenotypes.

One of the few elite Dutch Passion strains to make it into the exclusive High THC seed collection, C-Vibez can be relied on for producing consistently high 20-25% THC levels from all your plants.

But the deliberate lack of strain stabilisation with C-Vibez allows an unusual and tempting proposition for the quality-focussed grower - wide genetic expression & a juicy selection of different phenotypes. All of which enjoy top-tier potency levels which leave average strains a long way behind. Dependent on the final sativa/indica content, some phenotypes can take up to 12 weeks to complete bloom, others will be ready in nearer 10.

Advice from Dutch Passion’s experts for C-Vibez

C-Vibez independent cannabinoid lab-test results

Not everyone can afford an analytical lab to run cannabinoid/terpene levels to help pinpoint the most desirable phenotypes (around €100- €150 for each analysis). But for serious growers, commercial growers and those that buy/sell elite cannabis genetics there is no substitute for a professional, independent lab. Nor is there anything quite as important as an experienced grower to be able to supplement any lab data with hands-on knowledge of how a particular phenotype grows, yields and performs. Often the lab data is weighed up alongside grower feedback.

Those plants that grow with the greatest ease across a range of conditions may be preferred over the perhaps slightly fussier phenotypes. It’s important to note that lab data should never relied on exclusively. In cannabinoid profiling, a phenotype with 25% THC and relatively few other cannabinoids may actually be less desirable than a phenotype with 23% THC and a wide entourage of accompanying minor cannabinoids. Especially if the strain with slightly less THC also boasts a banging terpene profile.

The key to phenotype hunting is to find the rarest and best phenotypes which deliver a blissfully satisfying high that soothes the soul, relaxes body & mind and does so in a memorably enjoyable way. In this respect it’s useful to have blind testing from a few respected friends or cannabis colleagues to help you rate the phenotypes.

Of course, it’s essential to take cuttings from each plant you grow so you know which ones to keep or discard once the votes are in. Those that manage to create their own unique collection of the finest phenotypes they have ever grown also have the luxury burden of maintaining a mother tent. This means that planning is require for holidays etc. But many serious growers work in teams, swapping and saving genetics and sharing the load.

Many also trade clones of the finest cannabis phenotypes. Premium phenos command high prices, sometimes $/£/€ hundreds or even thousands each. Some will become the basis of new breeding stock for seed companies. Others will be used as foundation genetics for major commercial grows.

All cannabis strains will show a range of different phenotypes, but C-Vibez cannabis seeds are particularly recommended for those seeking guaranteed maximised THC levels whilst still offering a uniquely broad spectrum of phenotype expression and terpene profiles.
