Best high-yielding autoflower seeds for outdoors in 2025

If you haven’t grown cannabis outdoors yet there is no faster or easier way than growing from autoflower seeds. Select a warm & sunny 3-month grow period and just about all autoflower strains should deliver well. But if you’re looking for the very heaviest yielding outdoor autoflower seed varieties, the following strains come with Dutch Passion’s highest recommendations.
Top 5 high-yielding autoflower strains for outdoors in 2025
All of these autos are proven with thousands of outdoor growers and offer the highest yields. All five strains are also noted for their resilient wide-latitude ease of growth outdoors. And with THC levels that can exceed 20% (& approach 25% in good conditions) you are guaranteed top-shelf potency!
Many outdoor growers germinate their cannabis seeds indoors and give them a couple of weeks of 24-hour indoor light before planting them outdoors. This short period of pre-growth allows optimised initial growth, with protection from possible predators (slugs, snails, birds) as well as protection from the early-season weather while your seedlings are small and at their most vulnerable.
Then all you need to do is plant your established autoflower seedlings outdoors in moist, nutritious earth (or containers) and ensure plenty of sun & warmth. Next, sit back and relax!
If growing in containers you may need to add additional nutrients. If your outdoor autoflowers are rooted directly into the ground with good quality soil then you may not need to do anything other than water occasionally, if required.
Growing good quality outdoor weed really doesn’t get any easier than this!
Auto Euforia: one of the most resilient outdoor autos ever!
Auto Euforia is a seasoned outdoor champ and a repeat best seller with outdoor growers familiar with her exceptional toughness and resilience. The Skunk genetics ensure pungent penetrating aromas. The thick, full blooms deliver a true XL outdoor yield.
The plants are medium/large sized with a generous flower-to-leaf ratio. Auto Euforia is easy to grow and is perfectly suited to natural cultivation without the use of growth techniques (e.g. LST or HST). This makes her ideal for new outdoor growers. The buds are firm and resinous with a thick layer of trichomes.
Auto Euforia takes around 3 months to grow from autoflower seed to harvest. The most impressive feature of Auto Euforia is the outstanding results she delivers outdoors, often in less-than-ideal conditions. Seriously tough genetics, high THC levels, a rich skunky taste and heavy yields make Auto Euforia an ‘automatic’ first recommendation to any outdoor grower looking for dependable, fully-proven, outdoor autoflower seeds.

Auto Critical Orange Punch: affordable outdoor autoflower seeds with knockout performance
One of Dutch Passions budget-priced autoflower seed varieties that punches well above her weight! Auto Critical Orange Punch is a high-THC member of the multi cannabis cup winning Orange cannabis seeds collection. These are known for their zesty citrus aroma/taste, XL yields and consistently high THC levels - which are around 20% in the case of Auto Critical Orange Punch.
Outdoors she grows from autoflower seed to harvest in around 12-13 weeks, a week or two longer in cooler/grey conditions. Plants grow to a medium/large size and have roughly equal amounts of indica and sativa genetics.
Yields are some of the heaviest in the Dutch Passion autoflower seed collection for outdoor growers. Blooms can reach the same width as a coke can. The buds are white, frosty and have a delicious pungency. Think sweet and sour citrus notes with an old school hashy taste and a hint of pine. No wonder she won a top-10 place in the recent High Times list!
Takes around 3 months to grow from autoflower seed to harvest outdoors.
Auto Ultimate: when it comes to yield, this is the daddy of all them all
Auto Ultimate is quite probably Dutch Passion’s heaviest yielding autoflower seed variety. The XXL yields are a firm favourite with outdoor growers. But be aware that the bloom time of Auto Ultimate (indoors or outdoors) can be 2-4 weeks longer than your average auto.
For outdoor growers that may mean up to a 4-month outdoor grow cycle. But your patience will be richly rewarded. If you’re looking for a truly massive outdoor yield potential, then Auto Ultimate deserves a place in your cannabis seed stash.
Outdoors she can benefit from support towards the end of flowering, when some branches will struggle to support the weight of their blooms.
THC levels are up to 20%, the buds are frosty with a citrus aroma and earthy/piney notes. This is Dutch Passion’s top outdoor XXL autoflower seed recommendation if you don’t mind waiting an extra few weeks for harvest.
Auto Glueberry O.G: loud flavours and very heavy yields of sticky buds
Auto Glueberry OG is part of the USA Special cannabis seed collection, where loud flavours meet heavy yields! As with Auto Ultimate, you can expect to wait a couple of weeks longer than usual for the blooms to fully ripen. But you can expect branches that bow under their own weight as harvest approaches.
The buds have an earthy and fruity pungency, with chemical notes and a splash of diesel. Auto Glueberry OG produces large plants outdoors and can reach 1-1.5m (3.5-5ft) in height. Outdoors the grow cycle can be around 3.5 - 4 months.
Auto Candy Bubatz XL: best-selling hybrid genetics with fat sticky buds & penetrating candy aroma/taste
One of Dutch Passion’s latest outdoor autoflower seed varieties. Auto Candy Bubatz XL is a proven XL-yielding heavyweight with searing 20% THC potency and a pungent candy-shop aroma that makes her a classy option for outdoor growers.
Auto Candy Bubatz XL is an easy-to-grow and classically low maintenance auto that develops into a large plant with numerous thick, fat blooms. She is ready to harvest outdoors around 3 months after autoflower seed germination. A generous, white trichome frosting completes this highly sought-after genetic offering.
Bonus Pick: Bonus: Auto Elephant from the Super Sativa Seed Club
The Super Sativa Seed Club are a sister company to Dutch Passion. They are an original 1980’s seedbank with their own gene bank and genetics team. Auto Elephant is a heavyweight XL yielding autoflower variety with THC levels up to 20% and CBD levels up to 10%.
This creates a uniquely satisfying & medicated effect. Very pleasurably stoned and extremely relaxed!
Outdoors she can take 3.5 - 4 months to complete her grow cycle. That’s a touch slower than some autos, but the longer bloom time is necessary for the XL yields to reach their branch-bending maximum.
The unusual, fully-loaded, cannabinoid profile makes for supremely enjoyable effects. This makes Auto Elephant a very easy bonus recommendation for outdoor growers looking for a premium strain with a difference.
Extra tips and recommendations for a successful outdoor autoflower growing
- Most auto strains take around 3 months to grow from autoflower seed to harvest. Some of the heaviest yielding can take an extra few weeks but are well worth the effort. If you live in a Mediterranean or California-style climate you may be able to grow 3 successive autoflower crops each year. Even growers in warm & temperate climates can manage 2 successive outdoor auto crops each year.
- Many outdoor auto growers select several different strains to add variety to their jars. They often germinate new autoflower seeds throughout the grow season. This allows a steady supply of harvest-ready plants as the summer progresses.
- Those fortunate enough to have a greenhouse or polytunnel have the advantage of being able to protect their plants from the worst of the early/late season weather (and any extreme weather in-between). This effectively extends their grow season - making it easier to complete more grow-cycles.
- Think Fast, though not strictly an auto variety, is another top recommendation to outdoor growers. She has recessive autoflower genetics and grows like a feminised seed variety but faster. She is generally ready to harvest around a month before typical photoperiod outdoor feminised seed varieties. Think Fast has a longer grow cycle than the average auto, but with heavier yields. She is a prime Dutch Passion bonus recommendation for outdoor growers.
- More experienced outdoor growers can boost their yield and reduce plant height by using an outdoor SCROG. This does require some extra effort but will reward the grower with more blooms.

When growing autoflower seeds outdoors in containers
- Large containers (30-50 litres / 7-10 gal) hold a larger reservoir of water and nutrition, meaning less maintenance (watering, adding grow/bloom supplements etc).
- Avoid black/dark containers which heat up in direct sunshine, risking over-temperature damage to the root ball.
- Experienced growers deliberately keep the grow container in the shade (e.g. using cardboard or similar), to avoid direct sunlight/heat issues.
- Small grow containers will need more frequent watering and nutrients than larger grow containers.
- Use of highly aerated grow containers such as air pots, felt sacks (or similar) allow greater levels of root oxygenation and are preferred over traditional containers.
- Growing in containers allow the grower to temporarily relocate their plants in the event of extreme weather e.g. heatwave conditions, storms etc.
- Slow-release organic nutrients make growing much easier. For much of the grow you will be using the ‘water-only’ grow method - simple and truly bullet proof. BioTabs are market leaders in slow-release organics and are highly recommended.
- Copper-based tape used around your grow containers will deter slugs and snails from reaching your plants. Slug & snail pellets are also recommended, as a double layer of defence.
- Many prefer to germinate their autoflower seeds directly in the soil of their final grow container. This avoids the hassle (and possible plant stress/time-loss) of transplanting into larger containers. A video tutorial (below) explains how to germinate cannabis seeds in soil. Once germinated, a couple of weeks of indoor growth (under 24-hour light) helps your seedlings get off to a great start.
When growing autoflower seeds directly in the ground
- It really does pay to supplement the natural ground with added minerals, compost and nutrients. Especially if the local soil is poor quality, sandy or low in nutrition. Typical soil improvers include seaweed, bat guano, blood fish & bone meal, dolomite earth (Calcium/Magnesium rich mineral) etc.
- Those growing in sandy, drought-prone conditions may wish to add some water absorbing crystals to the ground. These are similar to the material used in baby diapers to absorb many times their own weight in water. When mixed in with the local earth they greatly increase the water holding capacity of the ground.
- Good quality soil/compost can be bought from garden centres, this can be used to supplement/replace the local soil.
- Again, addition of slow release organics to the soil ensures that it continues to deliver all the necessary nutrients. BioTabs give great results for outdoor growers.
- With unrestricted root growth, in good quality conditions, autoflower plants can reach between 1-2m (3-6ft) tall and yield up to 300g/10z for the best specimens. First time growers in less-than-ideal conditions may find 30-60g (1-2oz) dry harvest per plant to be a more realistic target.
- In the event of extreme weather (acute heat or torrential wind/rain) an overhead shelter e.g. tarpaulin can offer valuable relief to your outdoor autoflower plants.
- Liberal use of slug/snail pellets is good advice. As is a perimeter to your grow (to deter grazing animals). Use of fishing line as an ‘invisible’ barrier has been useful to deter grazing animals such as small deer etc for guerrilla growers.
- If heatwave conditions are present, and the plants are wilting don’t hesitate to create an overhead shade for the hottest hours of the day.
Growing autoflower seeds outdoors - fast & easy XL harvests!
If you have never grown autoflower seeds outdoors before you will be surprised by the speed, ease and heavy harvests. Growing them is largely maintenance-free, just sit back and relax as the autoflowering genetics do their work.
If growing on your own land you can watch your ladies grow, intervening only if they need watering or perhaps some general-purpose bloom nutrients later in the grow. Other than that, there is little to do but admire the pace of development.
If growing in the forests, hills, riverbanks, waste urban land etc then some careful consideration to your grow locations will be time well spent. As will time spent improving the grow location.
