Canadian Court gives approval for legal home grown

In a widely expected move, Judge Michael Phelan ruled in favour of 4 cannabis growers who were demanding the legal right to grow their own cannabis at home.  Currently Canadians can access cannabis via proved retailers, but cannabis growers wanted right to grow their own.  In 2013 the Canadian Government scrapped the laws allowing home growing in favour of a regulated retail system.  At the time the Government was concerned that there were too many home growers.

Many Canadian home growers complained that the regulated retail system does not allow all the necessary/ effective varieties of cannabis to be available.  The new ruling will reassure Canadian growers that home growing, with a license, can continue.  More details on the case from the New York Times is below
